Monday Night Prayer Group

Prayer gathering

Each Monday evening, a small group gathers in a Cambridge home to pray and meditate. People take turns offering prayers from the heart and reading short passages from the Baha'i writings aloud, with moments of quiet in between. There's no pressure to speak. Many people simply listen. The heart of the evening is the prayer itself: time set apart to turn toward God together.

From that shared experience, often over tea, the conversation turns naturally to deeper questions. Who are we, really? What is the soul, and what is this life preparing it for? When the conversation leads there, we often read a short passage and talk about what it means for our daily lives: how we pray, how we treat the people around us, and the small actions that help a soul grow. Just as the body needs daily food, the soul needs daily care, and it's easier to give it that care when others are trying too.

Over time, praying and reflecting together week after week, many of us have become close friends. It's a friendship anchored in something deeper than talking about the weather, and newcomers are drawn into it quickly. The hosts are in their 20s, so many who come are around that age, and people of every age, background and belief are warmly welcome.
