Terms

Terms and conditions.

Last updated July 2026. These cover this website and the optional text reminders program. Written in plain language because that is how we communicate.

Who we are

This site belongs to the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the City of Boston, PO Box 300158, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Reach us through our contact page.

Using this site

You may read, share, and link to anything here. The site describes community programs that are open to the public, and we would rather people found them than not.

We keep the site accurate and current, though program times and locations change. Confirm details with the community contact before travelling to a gathering.

Member accounts

Some parts of this site sit behind a login and serve members of the Baha'i community of Greater Boston. Accounts are issued by invitation. You are responsible for your own account and for what happens under it. Tell us if you think someone else has access.

Text reminders

The text reminders program is optional, free to join, and open to members with an account. Our text reminders page describes it in full. The terms below govern it.

Signing up

You turn text reminders on yourself, in your member profile, and give us the mobile number you want them sent to. You can instead give consent in person to a community administrator, who records it on your profile. We add a number only when the person it belongs to asks us to. We never buy phone numbers and we never import them from anywhere else.

Consent to receive texts is not a condition of membership, of attending anything, or of any purchase.

What we send

Four kinds of message: a reminder before a Feast or a Baha'i holy day celebration in your area, an announcement about community gatherings such as a cancellation or a change of venue, a prompt to report on a gathering you hosted, and one welcome message when you first sign up. We do not send advertising or fundraising appeals.

How often

Message frequency varies with the community calendar. Most months that means two or three messages.

Cost

The community charges nothing for this. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure what you pay for incoming texts.

Stopping

Reply STOP to any message and we will send one confirmation, then nothing further. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT do the same thing. You can also switch text reminders off in your member profile. Reply START if you change your mind later.

Stopping texts leaves your membership and your email notifications untouched.

Getting help

Reply HELP to any message for contact details, or write to us through our contact page.

Delivery

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. The program works on all major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, though carrier support can vary and is not guaranteed.

Your information

Our privacy policy explains what we store and who sees it. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
