Text Reminders

Text reminders for community events.

An optional service for community members. This page covers what it sends, how to turn it on, and how to turn it off.

What this is

Members can get a short text about a day before a community event they are interested in. The same information goes out by email, so the text is a nudge rather than the main announcement. Signing up is optional and takes a moment to undo.

Who sends them

The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the City of Boston sends these messages, using software built by Noble Media. They arrive from one dedicated number, and that number sends nothing else.

How to sign up

There are two ways:

  • Sign in at bostonbahais.org/members, open your profile, and turn on text reminders. You will be asked for your mobile number and to confirm that you want messages at that number.
  • Or tell a community administrator in person and give them your mobile number. They will record it on your profile.

Member accounts are issued by invitation, so signing up requires an account. We add a number only when the person it belongs to asks us to. We never buy phone numbers or import them from anywhere else.

You will get one text confirming that you are signed up.

What you will receive

A reminder roughly 24 hours before an event you have said you are interested in, plus the one welcome message when you join. Two examples:

Boston Baha'i community: you're signed up for text reminders. You'll get a text ~24h before events. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Reminder from the Boston Baha'i community: Prayer Gathering tomorrow (Sat) at 10:00 AM in Jamaica Plain. Reply STOP to opt out.

The messages carry event details and nothing else. We do not send advertising or fundraising appeals, and nobody outside the community can send you anything through this number.

How often

Message frequency varies with the community calendar and with the events you follow. Most weeks that means a handful of messages. Some weeks it means none.

Message and data rates

The community charges nothing for this. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan, so check with your carrier if you are unsure.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message. You will get one last text confirming it, then nothing further. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT all work the same way, and you can switch text reminders off from your profile at any time.

Reply START if you change your mind later.

Stopping texts leaves your membership and your email notifications untouched.

Getting help

Reply HELP to any message for contact details, or email secretariat@bostonbahais.org.

Your privacy

We use your mobile number only for the reminders described on this page. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Our privacy policy covers this in full.

Carrier support

This works on all major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Carrier support can vary and is not guaranteed.
